David Hendricks is the coach of the Overlake Chess Club
Coach Dave has been coaching elementary chess clubs for 10 years. Last year, he coached 8 elementary school chess clubs, including Stevenson that’s taken 1st in the nation 3 times and 1st in Washington State. He is the Scholastic Director for the Washington Chess Federation, and was the Director of the Microsoft Chess Club. He plays regularly in Washington and National Chess tournaments, regularly coaches chess students individually (outside for Club sessions), and runs summer chess and sport camps. He is an electrical and software engineer and designed computer hardware and software for Microsoft and Hewlett Packard companies. Contact David: DavidCHendricks@comcast.net
Join The Overlake School Chess Club
Chess club is held Tuesdays during zero period in the library. All middle school students are invited to join. Additionally, Tuesday lunchtime chess play is held in Mr. Davidson's classroom. All club players are encouraged to play in local scholastic tournaments, representing the school. 5th and 6th graders are able participate in the elmentary school tournaments. There are also many playing opportunities at middle school tournaments for 5th thru 8th graders.
