Overlake Takes 3rd Place

On March 20th 2010, three middle school students particpated in the MS/JHS State Team Championships.  Ian McPherson, Will Spencer, and Drew Chouinard represented Overlake in the unique team format where players line up side by side to play against an opposing team.  For the second straight year Overlake placed at this event, taking home the 3rd place trophy.

Leading the way was Ian McPherson on board 1.  He went undefeated, winning 4 out of 4 games and pushed his rating to a new personal best of 1705!   Will Spencer finished with 3 wins in 4 games, winning all games where he was favored, and scored one upset.  Will also achieved a new personal best rating of 1429.  Drew Chouinard finished with1 1/2 points which included a critical final round draw that was pivotal in securing 3rd place for the team.  Overall, it was a great team effort!
